Opening: 18 November
Where: Regional History Museum – Ruse (3 Aleksandar Batenberg Sq)

Ceramic vessels – large and small, broken into fragments or preserved, used for cooking, drinking and eating, for everyday purposes or for special occasions and religious rituals – anyone who has ever visited an archaeological site in Bulgaria or around the world knows these familiar remnants of past generations. But how were these ceramic vessels made?

The mobile interactive exhibition opening at the Regional History Museum – Ruse offers an answer to this question – at least regarding the period of Roman rule on the Bulgarian lands. The guest exhibition presents one of the most exciting discoveries in Bulgarian archaeology from the second half of the 20th century – a centre for industrial production of ceramic vessels, idols, bricks and water pipes, discovered near Pavlikeni.

The main highlight of the exhibition is a virtual tour through two of the reconstructed ceramic-firing kilns. It will immerse you in the atmosphere of ancient pottery production and allow you to follow the process from within – as never before. The exhibition also includes original artefacts. Together with the multimedia elements they combine history, archaeology and modern technologies and create a comprehensive picture of the past.
